Not directly IoT – but interesting for those running a logistics lab

The Impact of Virtual, Remote and Real Logistics Labs The Impact of Virtual, Remote and Real Logistics LabsThe ImViReLL’12 – The Impact of Virtual, Remote and Real Logistics Labs has provided a lot of interesting contributions concerning logistics labs. The IoT may just be the missing link to combine distributed lab infrastructures. This would be a big step forward in simulating distributed supply network applications. The conference proceedings are available from Springer and Amazon.

Call for Paper – The Impact of Virtual, Remote and Real Logistics Labs

The importance of logistics labs in supporting the transition from fundamental to applied research is undisputed. Lately, the Internet (of Things) has changed the scope of these labs. On the one hand the Internet of Things is addressed as a research topic in these labs. On the other hand the Internet supports virtualisation of testing infrastructures and remote access to logistics labs for increased collaboration between researchers across different research disciplines and locations. The goal of the conference is to focus on lab-based research, evaluate its impact in research and education and investigate specific demands, opportunities and challenges.

ImViReLL 2012 provides a venue for researchers from academia and industry interested in future-oriented logistics labs as a nucleus for innovation. The conference addresses research in logistics from a wide range of fields, e.g. engineering, computer science and collaborative research.

Important Dates

  • Submission of papers: October 31, 2011
  • Notification of acceptance: December 12, 2011
  • Camera ready versions due: January 9, 2012
  • Main conference: February 28 – March 1, 2012
  • Conference with satellite events: February 27 – March 2, 2012

3rd International Conference on Dynamics in Logistics (LDIC 2012) Call for Paper

The 3rd International Conference on Dynamics in Logistics (LDIC 2012) will be held in Bremen from the 27th of February to the 2nd of March 2012 together with several satellite events. Post-proceedings are planned to be published by Springer in the same way as for the previous LDIC conferences in 2007 and 2009.

The conference targets the identification, analysis, and description of the dynamics of logistic processes and networks. The spectrum of topics ranges from modeling and planning of processes and innovative methods like autonomous control and knowledge management to the new technologies provided by radio frequency identification, mobile communication, and networking. The growing dynamics in the area of logistics poses completely new challenges: logistic processes and networks have to rapidly and flexibly adapt to continuously changing conditions.

LDIC 2012 provides a venue for researchers from academia and industry interested in the technical advances in dynamics in logistics. The conference addresses research in logistics from a wide range of fields, e.g. engineering, computer science and operations research. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • logistic processes,
  • production and transport logistics,
  • maritime logistics,
  • logistic process modelling,
  • supply chain (event) management,
  • logistics security,
  • learning in logistics,
  • Internet of Things and Services,
  • radio frequency identification (RFID),
  • meshed sensor networks in logistics,
  • mobile HCI concepts for production and logistics,
  • mobile communication,
  • robotics in logistics,
  • smart transport technologies,
  • IT for green logistics,
  • mass customization,
  • performance assessment,
  • knowledge management,
  • virtual enterprises and logistic networks,
  • global networks,
  • sustainable collaboration,
  • intermodality,
  • autonomous control,
  • synchronization, transition, and transformation.

Important Dates:

  • Submission of papers: October 31, 2011
  • Proposals for workshops and tutorials: December 5, 2011
  • Notification of acceptance: December 12, 2011
  • Pre-proceedings versions due: January 9, 2012
  • Main conference: February 28 – March 1, 2012
